Someone said the other day, “make sure to take time to celebrate the small wins in life”. In that spirit, I write this.

Le Garage Winery Syrah won a Gold in the Syrah class and this is how we compare. Wakefield Taylors Wine from Australia won two Double Golds, and two Golds on 4 of their Syrah Wines. We should check them out for sure! There was one other Gold for Syrah from Arrington Vineyards in Colorado. Silver medals for Syrah were also achieved by Miramonte Winery in California, Old York Winery in New Jersey, Peters Prairie Vineyard in Texas. Williams Cellars in Colorado, and Sassafras Springs Vineyard & Winery in Arizona. Bronze medals were achieved from E. & J. Gallo Winery (Black Box) in California, Glenora Wine Cellars in New York, Holy Archangels Monastery in Texas, and Vina Sicilia in Columbia. My 2017 Syrah won a Double Gold in the Indy International at Purdue so I am guessing I know how to make a decent Syrah.

Le Garage Serendipity won a Silver in the Vinifera Red Blend (Non Bordeaux/Meritage) class. This is a very large class and is one of the classes that can win a Best in Show. Best in Show was Armstrong Winery in Pennsylvania! Double Gold was Viaggio Estate and Winery in California. Gold was Adega on 45th Estate Winery in British Columbia, Maggie Malick Wine Caves in South Carolina, and Solaro Estate in Texas.

Our Gaffer, Rosé, and Cabernet Sauvignon all won Bronze Medals in their classes.

As for Pennsylvania Wineries the breakdown for *wines is as follows: Armstrong won Best in Class for their Vinifera Red Blend, Deerfoot Winery won Best in Show for their Rosé, Deerfoot won a Double Gold for their Riesling - Dry, Armstrong Winery won a Gold and Best in Class for their Cabernet Sauvignon, Black Dog Wine Company won a Gold in the Sparkling Wine class, Cellar Beast Winery won a Gold in the Pinot Noir Class, Full Circle Winery won a Gold in the Noiret Class, Grovedale Winery won a Gold in the Other Hybrid Red Class, Le Garage Winery won our Gold in the Syrah Class, Stony Run Winery won a Gold in the Late Harvest White Class, Vineyard Hill Cellars won a Gold in the Rose´ / Blush - Hybrid Class, Waltz Vineyards Estate Winery LLC. won a Gold in the Cabernet Sauvignon Class, Yori Wine Cellars & Brewing Co. won a Gold in the Noiret Class.

For this small winery, this is not a small win. I am pleased with the results and I will stall on my thought processes of what I am making for next year and take time to relax today and celebrate.

It would be great to see you at Birchrun Hills Farm today!
